The Elementary and Secondary Elementary Act, reauthorized by the Every Student Succeeds Act, contains key protections to promote educational stability and success for students in foster care. ESSA requires states and districts to collaborate with child welfare partners in an effort to improve educational outcomes for youth in foster care.
