District Profile

Waynedale Local School District is located in rural Wayne and Holmes County.  The district operates one school building that serves a PreK-5 elementary school, a 6-8 middle school, and a 9-12 high school all under one roof. Our district spans approximately 117 square miles.  Currently the district enrolls 1045 students and 26.72% are on free or reduced lunch.  Waynedale Local School District participates in a small compact with one other district that share one superintendent.

Staffing

Waynedale Local School District works hard to ensure all students have access to all educational opportunities. The average years of teaching experience is 14.5 and 60% of our teaching staff have obtained a Masters. All staff impact our learning community and make Waynedale Local a great district to be a part of!

Technology

We offer one-to-one devices for students in grades 6-12 and Chromebook carts for elementary students.

Courses

In addition to having outstanding college credit plus courses and general courses of study, Waynedale Local is affiliated with Wayne County Schools Career Center. The WCSCC offers numerous vocational programs and opportunities for our students as well.

Athletics and the Arts

We offer 13 varsity sports, 3 choirs, band, and art club. Our students also have the opportunity to participate in performances and events including plays, musicals, and concerts.

Accomplishments

Wrestling won its 9th straight WCAL title in a row and 28th total in school history. Wrestling was State-Runner-Up in the DIII State Team Duals Tournament

Volleyball won its 5th WCAL championship and 4th in-a-row. Waynedale also won its 2nd DIII District Title in school history. Back-to-Back district titles.

Waynedale Golf won back-to-back WCAL titles and qualified two golfers for the DII OHSAA state Championships

Waynedale Girls Basketball advanced to the OHSAA DIII District Finals for the first time since 2008.

Waynedale boys cross country had an individual place in the top 12 in the state championships which qualified him to be All Ohio.

Waynedale had 10 athletes achieve “All Ohio” status.

70% of Waynedale students participate in at least one extra-curricular activity

55% of Waynedale athletes achieved at least a 3.5 GPA or above

Community

We are fortunate to have PTOs and Booster Clubs be actively involved and supportive in our learning environments. We have over 185 volunteers that participate and donate time to enhance our learning community.

Our district instructional framework includes the following components:

2. Objective- Goal/target posted for students to attain
3. Student Engagement- Conducive environment/climate that promotes involvement, persistence despite challenges, and student ownership to internalize value of learning
4. Differentiated Instruction- Lessons incorporate skills according to learners’ needs to meet intent of objective or advance beyond
5. Technology Connection- Integrating technology skills within the content
6. Assessments- Assess student knowledge of selected content to determine appropriate complexity and pacing (formative/summative)
